Gallery Price Coding System

The price coding system is based on 3 letters ranging from A-Q . The first 2 letters of the code are based on the dimensions of the print. And the third letter being based on the category of the print. At the moment we have four different types of print categories, these four are the Gallery Prints (G), Art Prints (A), Poster Prints (P) and Mogliani Edition Prints (M). The size and category of a print will help determine its sales price for example:

Code: Tulips SIB045

Name: Tulips 1

Artist: Sibraa

Sizes Available:

-trim - 11"x14" (280x356) (LJA)

-image - 10 3/4"x13 3/4" (273x349)

In looking at the print information (above), in order to determine the price of the print, we look at the size code, so in this case it would be LJA (11"x14") with L representing 11" inches, J representing 14" inches and the A reperesenting the category of the Art print. So with this information we can look at the price list table and search for the code LJA and we would find that LJA represents the price of $3.50 AUD. So in knowing this, we can determine the price of a certain art print by looking at the size code and relating it back to the price list table.

Understanding the meaning of Trim and Image

When we look at the print size, the price usually corresponds with the trim size of the art print. The trim is the white border that surrounds the image. And it is not the image itself, as the image is smaller than the actual trim size.So when looking at art prints in the gallery, don't be fooled that the trim size is the actual image size, but instead look at the image size underneath the trim size and you will discover how much white border the image actually has. And this can easily be determined by: trim size - image size = White Border (or white trimming). If you need to see an example to help you understand better look at diagram 1.02 below.

The white border is known as the trim and the middle is the image
